David Shimer ’18: A Journalist Gnomie

Posts! / Tuesday: A Gnotable Gnomie!

David Shimer is a proud senior of Davenport College. He will be graduating in May with a B.A. and an M.A in History. David, named a Marshall Scholar earlier this year, will continue growing his collection of diplomas by crossing the pond to pursue an M.Phil. in International Relations from Oxford University in the fall. David is also a Harry S. Truman Scholar. During the 2016 election cycle, he interned for Hillary Clinton’s campaign policy team and was a member of her general election debate preparation team. He was editor-in-chief of the Yale Daily News, America’s oldest college daily newspaper, and reported from the Berlin bureau of The New York Times last summer.

When David is not busy writing and editing pieces for Yalies’ favorite pair of newspapers, he can probably be found sitting by the computer cluster in the Davenport Library, working his way through lengthy class readings.   Otherwise, he’s probably bonding with his Sig Ep brothers or laughing over a meal at the Davenport senior table with his fellow 2018 gnomies.
